JONO
Province: AB
Jono wears his colors proudly, to the point where it’s hard to tell whether it’s his Acadian pride that fuels his confidence as a rapper, or his rapper’s pride that empowers him to embrace his Acadian identity. One thing is certain: his status as a leading figure in hip-hop is already taking shape.
Grab a drink and put on your Sunday best, because there’s a Party Chenous— the name of his debut EP. Following this release which was nominated for Recording of the Year at the Prix Musique NB in 2022, Jono was selected to represent New Brunswick at the Jeux de la Francophonie in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2023, and was named a semi-finalist at the 56th Festival international de la chanson de Granby in 2024. In June 2024, Jono released Live au Centre, an album recorded during an artist residency at the Dieppe Arts and Culture Centre with the band Les French Press.
